Many people are scared to commit to a full-face lift, given the invasive nature of the procedure, the exorbitant costs and the general fear of completely changing your appearance – so can you blame them? We don’t!
The Harley Clinic take a non-invasive, regenerative approach to structural concerns due to ageing and offer a range of alternatives to suit your needs. One of the popular treatments available to clients presenting with these concerns is Thread Lifts.
Specialist at The Harley Clinic, Dr Wayne Young, says the demand for non-surgical facelifts has exploded in recent years, and there are several options available on the market in Australia.
“The Harley Clinic has a few anti-ageing treatments that work to tighten the skin and offer a gentler option – one of our top picks is the thread lift,” said Dr Young.
“This non-surgical facelift reduces the visible signs of ageing and restores the skin’s texture, facial definition and elasticity for a more youthful appearance.
“A thread lift is also better suited to those who aren’t in need of a full-face lift – perhaps they are just starting to see some visible signs of ageing and don’t feel dermal treatments are going to give them the results they desire.”
Thread lifts involve the use of sutures (medical needles and threads) to tighten the skin, which in turn reduces the visible signs of ageing, such as wrinkles and lines, papery skin and droopy lids and facial features.
The procedure can be completed in a lunch hour, with only a local anaesthetic required. The client is usually fine to head back to work after the treatment, but we advise them to keep the treated area clean and make-up free for the following 24 hours. They should also avoid analgesics before and after the treatment to minimise any bruising, but paracetamol is fine for those who have a low pain threshold.
Best results are seen in the three to six months following the treatment and can remain for up to 18 months.
As with all treatments at The Harley Clinic, we recommend coming in for a complimentary consultation so you can tell us what results you’d like to see and our professional medical staff can ascertain the best course of treatments for your personal needs.

]]>Some individuals begin to shy away from such interactions as it can become somewhat of an emotional struggle. Others can also end up experiencing depression. To get rid of the problem, most adults can turn to a variety of treatment options, often including a series of creams that promise to do away with the pimples and any scars associated with them. However, often the results aren’t exactly to the satisfaction of the user.
To understand which treatment can be most effective against active acne, we need to look into what causes acne breakouts in the first place. To put it simply, acne appears when the oil glands or pores in the skin get blocked. Hormonal changes make the oil glands in the skin produce more oil, also known as sebum, and if a pore becomes blocked, the oil builds up and causes irritation. The bacteria in these blocked pores can multiply quickly, which can exacerbate the redness and swelling of acne.
The process of getting rid of acne isn’t quick, but getting the right treatment with the right frequency can help you get the clear and acne-free skin you want. Experts at the Harley Clinic have developed a multi-dimensional approach to treating acne that combines our skin care products range and LED light therapy that is done by trained and qualified professionals who really understand the unique requirements of your skin.
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, and as the name suggests, it works by emitting beams of light into the dermis layer of the skin, thereby energizing the cells responsible for producing elastin and collagen. The light treats the acne by killing the bacteria responsible for breakouts, while reducing inflammation and restoring the skin’s fullness and plumpness.
Think of LED light therapy the same way as plants use sunlight. The skin cells absorb the light like a nutrient and convert it repair damaged cells. Perhaps one of the best things about LED light therapy is that it’s non-invasive and proven to work for thousands of patients.
At the Harley Clinic, our professional approach to treating acne enables us to put together a viable treatment program in place, keeping in mind your skin’s unique circumstances. Click here to book a free consultation with one of our experts!
